No-exam life insurance
Qualifications for fast underwriting, how it works, and what happens if you don't qualify.
Many carriers now have accelerated underwriting: for applicants in certain age and amount ranges, they decide from your application, prescription history, driving record and other data—no paramedical exam. Some approvals come back the same day. Each quote here shows whether an exam is required, may be required, or isn't required.
What it changes
No exam doesn't mean no underwriting. Your answers get checked. Policies based on false answers can be challenged in the first two years. If the carrier finds questions in their data, they may ask for an exam or tests; you decide then whether to move forward.
Who tends to qualify
Usually applicants under 60 applying for typical amounts, with no serious health issues and no tobacco use for a year or longer. If you had a recent doctor visit with blood work, some carriers use those results instead of ordering an exam.
If you need an exam, it's usually a 20- to 30-minute visit from a paramedical examiner at your home or office in the Porterville area, at no cost. Good health often improves your rate after an exam, so it's not always a drawback.
